Research in AK Schwalbe is focused on the determination of structure and function of molecules including small molecule ligands, RNA, DNA, proteins (in solution and in the membrane). In order to do so, chemical and biochemical synthesis, NMR spectroscopy, MD simulations are applied. Of particular interest are time-resolved studies of protein and RNA folding, which are studied by CD, fluorescence and NMR spectroscopy. Collaborative projects with the groups of Prisner, Wachtveitl, Stock, Glaubitz, Heckel, and Göbel are also possible. Signing for a Bachelor thesis at the beginning of a semester is mandatory. |
